I've experienced a lot of change and thought I was immune to the consequences.

I'd learned to say yes to the new or difficult thing without hesitation, bite down hard, and work out the consequences later. I'd accepted that the accompanying feelings of anxiety and stress were a normal part of life.

I left Scotland to create a new life not once but twice, first to live in Budapest and then to call Australia home.

I got married, had a daughter, and became a single father, all in the space of four years.

During fifteen years working for the world's largest software companies, I changed jobs and employers with unusual regularity, pursuing the extrinsic motivation of money and prestige above all else.

I also saw firsthand the detrimental effects change can have on teams and individuals. And it turns out I wasn't immune; I was just good at hiding it from myself and others.

I had a flourishing career and a loving young family but soon became consumed by responsibility and constantly changing expectations. I was struggling to keep up and felt like a stranger in my own life. I could no longer do things that once came naturally, and simple things like remembering a password became impossible.

I stepped off the corporate ladder and became focused on understanding my situation and how to fix it. As I developed a greater awareness of my thoughts and emotions, I realised unconscious behaviour was responsible for much of my discomfort. I began uncovering and overcoming the fears, assumptions and beliefs driving it.

I freed my perspective and behaviour from the fear that controlled it and learned the value of adaptability. Immediately the world became a less threatening place, and I felt safe to experiment, make mistakes and continually learn from life's challenges.

I'm now committed to using my experience to help others uncover and overcome the hidden fears that hold them back.

We are adaptable edge

adaptable edge was created to show people how to look beyond fear, broaden their perspective, explore possibilities, and achieve their goals with freedom and ease.

Fear has become the dominant emotion in the world today, as change accelerates and uncertainty increases around us. It traps most people in a perpetual state of worry, hinders their growth, and wastes their potential.

But most fear is irrational, and we can quickly overcome its restrictions when we reveal, understand, and face it.

adaptable edge helps people overcome fear and realise their potential using a combination of coaching, mentoring, facilitation, and ongoing support to bring 25 years of proven academic research to the world in an accessibly and experientially.

The principles that guide my life and work

As I became more self aware, I developed a better understanding of who I was and how I wanted to live.

I turned that understanding into a set of principles that now serve as the compass for how I approach life and the work I do.
